The Delta variant causes more infections and spreads faster than earlier forms of the virus that causes COVID-19. It might cause more severe illness than previous strains in unvaccinated people.

Notice: CDC continues to recommend the use of the newly FDA-approved Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine for people 16 years and older, as one of the recommended vaccines to protect against COVID-19. An additional mRNA dose for moderately to severely immunocompromised people is coming soon.
